Healing and aftercare

What to expect while your brows heal.

Your brows will change before they settle. Follow this guide for cleansing, cream, the healing stages and everything to avoid during the first two weeks.

What to expect

Darker, flaky, lighter—then settled.

Fresh brows look more defined and usually darker than the colour you will eventually keep. Slight redness or swelling can happen immediately afterwards and generally settles within a few hours.

The colour and texture then move through several normal stages. Tenderness, uneven-looking pigment, light scabbing or flaking and a temporary faded period do not mean the treatment has failed. You will not see the true healed colour until around four to six weeks.

Week by week

WhenWhat you may notice
Immediately afterBrows appear darker and more defined. Slight redness or swelling can be normal and should settle.
Days 1–3They may feel tender. Pigment can look darker or slightly uneven while the surface begins to heal.
Days 4–7Light scabbing or flaking may begin. Let it shed naturally—picking or scratching can interfere with the result.
Weeks 2–4The pigment softens and may look much lighter or temporarily patchy. This is a normal part of healing.
Weeks 4–6The true healed colour and softness become clearer. This is when the first-stage result can be assessed properly.
At six weeksYour included Melbourne perfecting session is scheduled for 17–19 December 2026.
The important bit

The darkest stage and the faded stage are both temporary. Please do not judge the finished result—or try to correct anything yourself—while the skin is still healing.

Cleansing and cream

Your daily routine for the first 10–14 days.

Keep the area clean and dry apart from this brief, gentle cleansing routine. Always follow any personalised instructions I give you on the day.

Wash your hands

Clean your hands thoroughly before you touch your brows, your aftercare cream or the skin around the treatment area.

Clean the brows gently

Use lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap. Do not scrub, exfoliate or use a face cloth over the area.

Pat—never rub—dry

Use a fresh, clean tissue and gently pat away the moisture. Avoid dragging a towel across the brows.

Apply a very thin layer of cream

Use the recommended aftercare cream once a day for 10–14 days. More is not better: apply only the small amount shown to you at your appointment.

Keep them dry between cleanses

Avoid soaking or steaming the brows. If they become wet accidentally, pat them dry gently with a clean tissue rather than rubbing them.

The do and don’t list

Protect the skin while it closes and settles.

Do

  • Keep the brows clean and dry between gentle cleanses.
  • Use the aftercare cream exactly as instructed.
  • Let every flake or light scab come away by itself.
  • Call me if you are unsure whether what you are seeing is normal.

Don’t

  • Pick, scratch, rub or peel the healing skin.
  • Put makeup, exfoliants or strong skincare directly on the brow area.
  • Expose the brows to strong sunlight, saunas, steam or swimming for at least two weeks.
  • Have chemical peels or other facial treatments over the brows while they heal.
Do not panic over the colour

Your brows can look darker than expected at first and lighter than expected later. The healed result cannot be judged properly until the colour has settled at four to six weeks.

Long-term care and perfecting

Once healed, protect the colour—and let me finish the work.

After the skin has healed, use SPF over the brow area and avoid excessive sun exposure. UV exposure can make cosmetic tattoo pigment fade more quickly.

Your restoration package already includes the second-stage appointment. I will see you in Melbourne at six weeks, on 17–19 December 2026, to assess how your skin retained the pigment and perfect the colour, balance and density.

Why we wait six weeks

The brows need time to complete their colour changes before I make permanent decisions about what needs to be strengthened. The second appointment is based on the healed result—not a guess made during the first week.
